TRACING BACK HOW
Tracing back how islands and thoughts come into existence.
This video work is projected onto an installation with 85 found ceramic pieces, that are moving in wave-like patterns due to the interaction with the audience.
Numerous pieces of small ceramics were found at the northern shore of England, polished by the oscillating sand and sea waves. As Robin found the objects in 2016, shortly after the Brexit referendum, the findings remind him also of the talks with locals about the still turbulent ‘leave or remain’ issues. These events inspired to an experimental video installation in which he questions ‘how islands and thoughts come into existence’.
Installation with looped video (HD 7:39 min.) projected onto found ceramics, moving in waves by arduino and stepper motors and coding to achieve subtle interactivity. Made in 2019.
